ROAM is a collaborative project between Mecca:83 and Joel VDK that started in 2011 when Joel created some artwork for Mecca’s Monday Jazz “Calls to Trane.” The artwork resonated so much that they ended up doing ROAM together.
ROAM is a combination of a comic book and a beat tape that provides you that dusty, analog type sound to fulfill the narrative of a comic through an MPC and SP1200 without the fancy special effects. The idea is that you buy a comic book and listen to ROAM at the same time. You, the listener, becomes the director.
